Meet Roatán below the surface

Roatán snorkeling and diving, planned at your level.

The reef is one of Roatán’s defining experiences, but the right day looks different for every guest. You might snorkel from a sheltered area, join a guided boat, try scuba for the first time, or build the trip around multiple certified dives.

For first-time snorkelers

Start with a guide, calm conditions, properly fitted equipment, and a location suited to your comfort. Tell the operator about swimming ability and any concerns before entering the water. A short, relaxed session often creates a better first experience than trying to cover too much.

For certified divers

Compare operators by safety culture, group size, equipment standards, conservation practices, and how well their schedule fits your goals. Confirm certification requirements and allow for accepted post-dive guidance before flying.

For non-divers

You do not need a certification to make the reef part of the trip. Guided snorkeling, glass-bottom experiences, boat days, and marine education can connect non-divers with the same underwater landscape.

Travel gently

  • Do not touch, chase, feed, or stand on marine life.
  • Keep fins and equipment clear of coral.
  • Choose operators who brief guests on reef protection.
  • Reduce single-use plastics and take everything back with you.
  • Follow current Roatán Marine Park and operator guidance.

Build a balanced reef trip

Alternate higher-energy water days with beach time, food, and an island drive. That pace gives weather flexibility and lets Roatán become more than a list of dive sites.
